Subject:Chinese Scroll Artist Identification
Posted By: Dan W Mon, Mar 02, 2015 IP: 76.122.117.52

Hi, everyone. I had good luck getting a seal translated here in the past and was hoping to tap your collective expertise again.

Trying to translate the seal on a pretty basic Chinese India ink scroll on paper depicting bamboo.

Any help and commentary is appreciated.

Would be curious as to age and origin of the piece as well, hence the interest in identifying the artist.

Thanks!

Imitation of Zheng Xie 郑燮 (Zheng Banqiao 郑板桥), could date from any time in the past 25 years. Zheng was an 18th century painter/calligrapher popular in China today.

Ha, well fortunately my expectations were low as it was something left behind by the previous owner of my condo.

Still interesting information though. Thanks for the help!

Dan
