Subject:Here is another one that a love a lot! A brass (copper?) repousse of the Tibetan Astrological diagram.

I try to do my best to do as much research on my own as possible and it can be a pretty daunting, yet very rewarding process. I enjoy doing the research even though much of it leads me to a lot of dead ends. In fact, this one almost did! First, I spent an hour or so just trying to find out what this was, then the real research began. After endless hours it finally lead me to a professional photographer's page here: http://lessingimages.com/viewimage.asp?cr=1&i=04010328+&d=3&p=1&a=d&hr=0 who happens to have the only online image that I can find of what I have. He identifies this art as being at the Voelkerkundemuseum der Universitaet in Zurich, Switzerland. This is their website: http://www.musethno.uzh.ch/index.html.

From what I am able to gleam so far, it is a brass (or copper?) repousse of the Tibetan Astrological diagram; tantric wheel, Buddha and guardians; Buddhist symbols.

Mine is 10 3/4" wide x 12" tall. As you can see in my pictures, mine has a lot of patina and a couple of fleabite specs where the brass has turned aqua green but so small that I had to really look. Also, mine was mounted with tiny nails to a mounting board. You can see in the pictures where a couple of the little nails are missing. I did this one as a link so that you can get a close up look as we had to slightly lighten the first picture due to the patina so that you could see as much detail as possible.

Any ideas and educated guesses on age or other pertinent information that I may be overlooking?

Thanks for looking and commenting!

I thought I linked my album, but just ended up showing one picture. Ah well, my computer skills are a bit lacking.

Anyway, I found one going up for auction soon ....
