Hoping for a read on these marks from a samurai sword with folded blade. Thanks for looking, Jim

Written partially in hiragana, とよ尤 ('toyo yĆ»' or 'toyo toga') but that's the only thing I can add.

Guy.

The first two characters are from the japanese hirogana set, reading "to" "yo" or together reading "toyo", last character , a radical, usually means "dog", sometimes other animals. That's the best I can give you, hope that helps.

Hi j lewis, thanks for the site, I have it bookmarked, and one more, but I didn't want to go there until I learned a little more. Not all forums are as tolerant as this one. Best wishes, Jim

Hi casi, thank you for responding to my post, much appreciated. I'm hoping that the information you and Guy provided will lead to identification of my katana. Thanks again, Jim
