Subject:Japanese Mark
Posted By: Anthony Wed, Mar 11, 2015 IP: 24.155.238.229

Good Day Everyone. I have a medium sized Japanese studio vase and have been trying, with no success, to translate or at least come close to translating the mark on the bottom. I recognise part as possibly being Dai Nippon in some form. Can someone who is more familiar or that reads Japanese kanji please help? I really appreaciate it.
Sincerely,
Anthony

Think it said "end date three" or "3 years old". By them selves the 2nd kanji is "day" or "sun" and the last one is 3.

These characters 香三 come back from my query to a Japanese online dictionary as the uncategorized name "Kyouzou" (or Kyozo). Can't find any other info relating to your vase, though you may have better luck if you peck away longer at the Google responses.

Best regards,

Bill H.
