Subject:Maker Marks on Long decorative Box
Posted By: Angie Tue, Mar 17, 2015 IP: 184.56.16.63

Hello, This box is reddish brown in color and has a flip lid with Rose designs on top, and what appear to be foo dogs on each end. It feels like plastic? VERY smooth but heavy. It measures: 10 3/4" x 3 1/2" and is 2" tall. I would like to know what this would be used for, and what the maker marks on the bottom read. Thank you for your time and help.

I have added these pictures to possibly help with identifying this piece. Thank you.

Hello Angie,

You are right that your box is molded. I saw a display of the same box in a tourist souvenir shop in Vietnam or Cambodia in the past two weeks. I may have a photo but it will be buried among thousands of photos on the sd card. I will post the photo if I find it in the next few days.

I assume that it is a writing box for pen and pencil.

Thank you very much! At least now I know what it could be used for. Thank you again. Any Idea about the marking on the bottom?

Angie, Here is the photo of the molded boxes that I was looking for. They were seen in a gift shop in Cambodia, but may have originated anywhere in SE Asia.
