Subject:Are these genuine satsumaware?
Posted By: Vicky Sun, Mar 22, 2015 IP: 46.64.0.31

Inherited the two pots (only one signed and that has some damage to the dragon on top). Can anyone advise any more about them, age, genuine? I'm in the UK. I don't think the link to dropbox worked so I have added it here:

Many thanks

Hi Vicky,

Yes this is what is usualy called Satsuma and it's genuine and dating from the Meiji period. Such pots are called "Koro's" (incense burner). Nice "catch".

Regards,

Arjan
