This is an old Chinese silk embroidery (shusho), my podiatrist actually has a similar-looking one with cranes in his office that I often admire. I'm more knowledgeable when it comes to Japanese antiques so I'm afraid I can't really tell you much more. If I had to guess, I would probably say it's late Ming (1368–1644) or early Qing (1644–1911) dynasty, but that's just an estimate based on appearance. This would really have to be inspected closely to determine an age, and I think it would be worth having it appraised by a professional. I would guess its value to be somewhere between $600 and $2000 USD. I've heard the auction market is good for Chinese embroidery right now. Below I've provided a link to Wikipedia's article on Chinese Embroidery in case you haven't already perused it; it contains some useful information. Best of luck, hope someone can tell you more. :)
