Subject:Please help identify this Japanese Woodcut too
Posted By: taljp Tue, Apr 07, 2015 IP: 76.252.152.176

Can anyone please help identify the artist who created this print that I recently acquired, the title of the print, and the publication date? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

This is an early 20th century reproduction of a print by Torii Kiyonaga from the series Comparison of the Charms of Alluring Women (Irokurabe enpu sugata), originally published ca 1781.
An original is in the MFA Boston. I add the image for comparision.

Guy.

A fairly famous print by Kiyonaga. Here is one at the Boston MFA:

At first brush, yours looks like a later reproduction.

Cheers,
Stan
