Subject:Japanese Zan Bronze Mixed Metal vase with inscription
Posted By: tim schwarz Thu, Apr 09, 2015 IP: 98.74.164.65 I have a gorgeous very heavy bronze vase. Japanese in make. With mixed metal embossed crane bird. It has a circle moon carved into it as well. It has a long inscription carved into the backside of it. And a four character mark on the bottom. The only thing I can recognize is the mark for Zan on the bottom. PLEASE help in any way possible. Thanks in advance. Date range? Full mark on bottom or back? |

Posted By: Chris Mon, Apr 27, 2015 The text says it was made specially to commemorate the completion of some defence work, the vase was made/commissioned by the "Governor-General of Korea", when Korea was under Japanese rule (after the annexation of Korea to Japan) between 1910 - 1945. |
