Subject:Japanese Zan Bronze Mixed Metal vase with inscription
Posted By: tim schwarz Thu, Apr 09, 2015 IP: 98.74.164.65

I have a gorgeous very heavy bronze vase. Japanese in make. With mixed metal embossed crane bird. It has a circle moon carved into it as well. It has a long inscription carved into the backside of it. And a four character mark on the bottom. The only thing I can recognize is the mark for Zan on the bottom. PLEASE help in any way possible. Thanks in advance. Date range? Full mark on bottom or back?

The text says it was made specially to commemorate the completion of some defence work, the vase was made/commissioned by the "Governor-General of Korea", when Korea was under Japanese rule (after the annexation of Korea to Japan) between 1910 - 1945.
