Subject:Stamp Information

I'm looking for any information about the maker of this cup. Can it be dated? Who is the maker? This is a piece I inherited from my mother who inherited from her mother. I would assume it can be an antique. Thank you for any information!

Your Chinese famille rose cup in the "millefleurs" (thousand flowers) pattern has an apocryphal 18th century mark reading "Made during the Qianlong Reign of the Great Qing Dynasty" (Da Qing Qianlong Nian Zhi). In my opinion, it probably dates to the Republic period (1912-1949) or subsequently, as the rim has the flat look of later gilding and the pink peony, seen in the middle picture is painted more in the fashion of its cousin the rose. My circa late Qing "millefleurs" lampshade shows the more frilly Kangxi-style peony that was used in this pattern's heyday during the Guangxu era through end of the Qing dynasty.

Best regards,

Bill H.
