Subject:feng shui coin
Posted By: Mike Fri, May 08, 2015 IP: 73.18.99.65

I have recently purchased what I think is a Chinese feng shui coin. I think it might be considered kitsch, but I thought it looked cool.

My understanding of what it says on the coin is: yi fan feng shun, "may you have favorable winds in your sails."

If anybody could shed some light on what the paper says in the back ground or any other information about the piece I would greatly appreciate it.

not feng shui related per se, just a decorative object with the good wishes as you've translated cast as a coin. the text is mostly covered by your coin but starts on the right in columns with "Ancient currency is a national treasure of China." It's basically an enthusiastic caption, not a story or explanation of what this particular coin is.

Sorry, but my X-ray vision just failed me. No problem though, this "coin" is contemporary gift shop fare in Hong Kong, Taipei and other Asian destinations. A token of friendship that someone might give a friend who's about to start a long or momentous journey. A way of expressing a wish of "Bon voyage!" in Chinese.

Best regards,

Bill H.
