Subject:Interesting jade carving
Posted By: Ethan Y Fri, May 15, 2015 IP: 50.15.147.236

Hi, all:
I am new to this forum. I am posting a piece of jade I have acquired lately. It is a carving of a peacock. I believe/hope it is from Liao Jin / Yuan period. I have sent pictures to China Guardian but they said they can't make conclusion (no yes or no) until see it in person (I am in Texas!) anyway, if you have any ideas of how old it is, I would like to head from you. thanks.

About 20 - 30 years ago one could buy great amounts this type of carving in Hong Kong.. They were carved in China in those days..

Ernst:
Thanks for the info. I don't usually buy odd jade like this, but it has a good provenance. I am working on to find a paperwork to validate its provenance. I have studied this piece for some time, and I don't find any trace of machine carving.
Best regards
Ethan
