Subject:Help with Bronze(?) Mark - Asian Subject Matter
Posted By: Megan Mon, Jun 08, 2015 IP: 73.132.82.108

I've had this for some time and just cannot find any meaningful help with it. See images but I believe this is a bronze. Asian horse and carriage subject. The piece has significant and layered patina. It measures 9" x 3" x 4" high and weighs roughly 6 lbs. The mark is on the base and on the back of the carriage and is a head profile in a circle.

Here are some pictures and I sure would appreciate any help at all.

Thanks!
Megan

This is a fantasy piece, likely ceramic rather than metal, imitating Han dynasty burial objects, drawing on Han tomb wall reliefs for iconography. No idea what maker the mark showing the profile of the woman's head represents.

I was hoping it would be alright to give this a bump. I would like to take one more shot at getting some information on this piece?

Rat, I thank you for your contribution - a couple of things. First, this piece is definitely not ceramic. I also don't think it attempts to imitate Han as the styling is all off. If you look even at the examples you linked to here...totally different styling if you look at both the carriage and horse styles. They are pretty distinctive and Han is quite different. Thank you again though rat.

Would anyone else have any thoughts on this.

I appreciate you taking a look.
