Subject:Locket from tibet
Posted By: Murray Wed, Jun 24, 2015 IP: 73.37.12.161

Bought this locket in an antique shop in tibet.
There are some characters on the locket, can anyone tell me what that says?

The locket is often considered a travel protection locket. The script is the Lantsa script, ancient Sanskrit form used in Nepal until recently and often used for writing mantras. The first picture is the "All Powerful One" intertwined symbol of 10 characters, the individual characters written around the outside (go to www.kalachakranet.org for full details)- it represents all space, energies, etc and is the seed of the Kalachakra practice. The reverse side is the Lantsa script form of "Om Mani Padme Hum", the mantra of the buddha of compassion
