Could anyone help me identify this brush pot? Could it be huanghuali?

no, not huanghuali. This looks like Dalbergia cochenisis. People in Europe sometimes use it for huanghuali restoration if they dont have the right timbers because it does look quite similar in many ways, but is in fact nothing like the species we refer to as Huali wood. It's far less dense and does not have the same tannins or growth pattern that give hhli it's translucent glow
