Subject:More info and Details about Chinese Mirror Black Glaze Rouleau Vase
Posted By: Nels Gullerud Sat, Jul 11, 2015 IP: 24.73.18.101

This Chinese Mirror Black Glaze Rouleau Form Vase, upon close examination, is decorated over the entire body with a very subtle iridescent black on black floral design. I have tried to show some details of it in the pictures. It is all but invisible unless you get the light on it just right. The 3rd picture shows the basic color and the iridescence in reflection on the base. Is there a name for this type of glaze treatment? Was it made in a special place? I believe it to be 18th-19th Century Chinese - Anyone agree? I would love to learn more about this type of porcelain if you can direct me where to learn. Thanks as always!
Nels
