Look at the painting on your vase, that was what it said.

The signature in red revealed the artist name 郎世宁(Giuseppe Castiglione), an Italian who worked for Qianlong emperor (1725-1796)of Qing dynasty in China as a painter in the palace.

The Chinese poet described the beautiful of the flowers, purple and red in color and the small animal (may be butterfly) rest on it.

More than likely, some kind of birds because it says avian, that is the problem when pictures of the whole piece was not posted and one tries to translate. Good catch on the possible painter though.

Unfortunately there is zero chance this is by Castiglione, who painted, but not on ceramics. Instead this is a recently made fantasy piece trying to convey a Qianlong pedigree.

yes you are quite right the painting is of budgerigars on a branch. I had great difficulty making the photo smaller so only posted the poem.
