Subject:Earthenware Japanese Nippon Satsuma?
Posted By: Grace Kraft Mon, Aug 24, 2015 IP: 108.218.153.222

Purchased this at a flea market today. I don't know how to date it and if it really is really Satsuma. Bowl measures 10" across and 4 1/2" high. It looks like the under imagery is transferware. There is a seam in the image in the center inside that runs through the image.

Would appear your transfer-decorated bowl in a quasi-Japanese style is a circa third quarter, 20th century export product of one of the porcelain ornamentation factories in Hong Kong or Macao. Such bowls are produced in China and bought as blanks by these factories.

Best regards,

Bill H.
