Subject:Chinese Porcelain Plate Identification Help Please
Posted By: John Thu, Oct 01, 2015 IP: 69.126.250.62

Can anyone help me identify the pictured Chinese plate. The plate approx. 7" in diameter. Any help with identifying the artist, age and any additional help will be greatly appreciated.

John

Do a Google search for "Kraak Porcelain". A Chinese export style produced from the late Ming through the early Qing dynasties. It was copied by the Japanese at Arita. The glaze tone and iron spotting on your bowl make me think that it might not be authentic, or that it's degraded. That said, Kraak porcelain is not that valuable so faking it makes little economic sense.

John,

Thank you for your help. I searched google for Kraak porcelain, but have not been able to find any with an artist seal on base. Would you now who the artist seals is on the base?

Thank you again,

John

Your plate is not kraakporcelain.
your plate is in the style off kraakporselain.
And the decoration is in wanli kraak style.
And I think your plate is 20 century.

Here's another antique style plate just like yours going for $18 from a Mainland China eBay seller. The mark on its base does not identify the maker but expresses an auspicious wish, read from the top right down and across in two stacks as 'May all blessings come to everyone' (Wan fu you tong - 萬福攸同).

Best regards,

Bill H.
