Subject:Samurai Japanese Plate
Posted By: Tom Sat, Nov 21, 2015 IP: 95.160.9.134

I wonder if anyone can help identify the characters in the impressed mark on this satsuma kioto, japanese plate?

Any comment would be appreciated.
Much obliged

The plate is late Meiji-Taisho Kyoto pottery of Satsuma-style crackle-glaze stoneware. I can't make out any of the impressed characters, but while cursive script isn't my cup of tea, I believe the written mark reads down from the top right and across in two stacks as "Kyoto Nishida Zo" (京都 西田造 - Made at Kyoto by Nishida).

Best regards,

Bill H.

Bill, you might not like the cursive writing, but you can read it perfectly.

Thank you Mike for the pat on the back. But like an old racehorse out to pasture, sugar cubes are always welcome, but just don't waste any money on me at the betting window.;)

Cheers,

Bill H.
