Subject:Ming Sancai Attendant Holding A Mandarin Hat
Posted By: Margie Thu, Jan 21, 2016 IP: 98.253.238.56

I have had this for many years but am not sure it's really Ming, or if it is, whether it's good quality. Thank you for any ideas about it.
He is 16.5" tall.

Yes it is Ming dynasty, pretty good qualite indeed.

16'5" tall but in what unit ? Inches ? cm ?

Anyway, clothes moves and character attitude is quite original and aesthetically interesting... nice... always found Sancai ceramics displayed on old wood furniture is a particularly tasteful...

About authentification, the particular metallic reflection on the glaze surface (around the belt on your picture) is a sign of age impossible to fake so far... this enough is a good sign of authenticity, shape and style is consistent with Ming dynasty style.
