Subject:Any and all help identifying this piece would be very much appreciated!
Posted By: Jessica Mon, Jan 25, 2016 IP: 86.147.62.165

Hello. I recently inherited this piece from my grandmother, as I had admired it ever since I was a very little girl. But now that it's mine, I realise that I know absolutely nothing about it and curiosity is getting the better of me. I believe it to be ivory....and that's about it!
Any help from you would be absolutely wonderful. PS. if the images are huge, I apologise....I've tried everything but I can't seem to make them smaller!!

You have a nice and charming Japanese, Meiji period Ivory 'okimono' (ornament for display) of a couple seated at a dining table.

I have difficulties with the reading of the maker's seal. Anyone?

Guy.

Dear Jessica,
All I can tell you is it is a very finely carved ivory japanese okimono.
Best regards,
Rémy
