Subject:Statue of Buddha...looking for some information
Posted By: Milosh Sat, Feb 06, 2016 IP: 91.148.99.44

I'm looking for any information I can find of standing buddha.
The most similar I could find is this:http://myanmar-antik.dk/en/bronze-buddhas/400-bronze-buddha-135.html
But the material obviously differs.
Is this statue on the photo also so valuable and from the 19th century?

Hi,Milosh the standing buddha looks to me to be of Thai origen in the ( Sukhotai style ) the hand raised is the mudra for fearlessness .(protection)....its possibly a modern fake..?

I agree that it's Thai. Lacquered and gilt wood, no more than 100-250 years old. Probably not a modern fake, but would need to be examined in person to be sure.
