I need help identifying an artist's mark, likely a Malaysian artist from the first half of the 20th century. Photos attached.
The story:
In 1975, my parents lived in Kuala Lumpur. My mom bought various pieces of Asian art, much of it fairly cheap imports from China and Taiwan. However, in the attic of an antique shop in Kuala Lumpur, she purchased matching paintings of an old man and old woman. They have hung in our family room for decades. When I was young, my older sisters told me I was adopted and those were my real grandparents (I'm white and from the USA). I believed them. The paintings mean a lot to me, and I am curious as to who the artist is, what his or her story is, etc. I'd appreciate any help in identifying the mark.
