Subject:Qianlong Jar...something special or no?
Posted By: Phil Sat, Apr 30, 2016 IP: 69.119.204.101

The quality on this jar looks great. The woman told me it was sitting on a shelf for many years. Not really sure what that means, but the mark would make it a supposed 200+ years old. I know you need to take these marks for a grain of sand, but is this just a modern repro? I can tell that it is quality porcelain, and in some spots it looks like its got age. But if this was real it would be museum quality. Any thoughts? PS I've held old pieces, but those pieces were worn and usually showed their age. I've never held one of the old pieces that you see in the big auction houses that look brand new even though they could be 500 years old. I am still learning about asian art so I figure this could be a lesson.
