Subject:question for guy or stan, or others

This is a quote from the curator at the British Museum on their website. Early erotic Japanese paintings (i.e., pre-Ukiyo-e school, before the final quarter of the 17th century) by artists working in any school or style are rare. I have a very early shunga painting, possibly Momoyama period, cut from a larger hand scroll. Does anyone know the value of such an item. I have not posted any pictures due to content but will gladly email to anyone who can help.
Thank you for your replies.

If it is rare, then it is unlikely that people here will have any idea what it is worth. The first questions are:

Who is the artist? How are you dating it?

If there are some markings that might indicate the artist or age, then please show them. Unless the artist is well known and works collectible, then value will not be significant no matter how rare.

You might contact the curator at the British Museum.

Cheers,
Stan
