Subject:Japanese Bronze seal/mark
Posted By: Dana Wed, Jun 01, 2016 IP: 96.246.56.159

Hello,

I was hoping someone might know what this seal says. It's on what I think is a 19th century Japanese animal bronze. I've seen the bottom right character on the seals of other bronzes, but I do not know if this relates to the artist, place, or date.

Any info would be greatly appreciated!!

Seal script, looks like an older style. Would definitely help to post pictures of the entire piece, and any history you know.

The seal reads 廣燿斎吉平鍛 ('Kôyôsai Kichihei kitau' or 'forged by Kôyôsai Kichihei'), Meiji period.

Why don't you post an image of the whole piece?

Guy.
