Subject:Chinese Coin
Posted By: Alberich Mon, Jun 06, 2016 IP: 199.59.106.195 Hi all. Is this a Chinese coin? I don't see any writing on it and it is not punched in the middle. It has a few cracks toward the edges. It is about the size of a US silver dollar. Thanks. |

Posted By: Tom W Wed, Jun 08, 2016 Hi - this appears to be a cast Chinese charm or curio probably dating to the mid-Qing dynasty. The filled center hole is unusual but not unknown on charms and suggests it was not intended to be strung or suspended. For reference, it is shown below as a rubbing in Mr. Chen Hongxi’s book COLLECTION OF CURIO COINS (1987) as item 047. |
