Subject:Strange carved wooden stands/supports!!!
Posted By: MARK THOMPSON Thu, Jun 09, 2016 IP: 95.147.93.2

Does anyone know, please, what these are? My guess would be some sort of stand or rest but for what? Also the significance of the different symbols?

I purchased these to make a stand for an ornamental knife. They are the perfect shape to mount on a mahogany plinth to display my Khukuri.

Each piece has a different inlaid symbol and a carved base. Although of similar size and patterns they are all slightly different so probably not mass produced.

Measurements approx :
Height 65mm
Width 80mm
Depth 25mm

Thank you in anticipation of any forthcoming advice.

Apparently a model of an African chief's stool. See link:
