Hi,

I am also looking for information regarding a Bronze Buddha with Stupa.
This is not so easy because I have not even found a comparable/similar piece yet. There are plenty of Bronze Stupas decorated with little Buddhas out there but I have not seen a Buddha decorated with a Stupa.

Furthermore the construction of the Bronze is also quite unusual as it consists of 3 single pieces which can be assembled. (the total height is around 32 cm/13 inches)

After doing some research this Bronze is certainly not a massproduction in my opinion but I have no idea how rare it really might be.
Judging from the base my guess is that the origin of the Bronze could be Thailand. I have absolutely no clue about the age though.

Can anyone on this board tell me something about the origin and age of this Bronze?

I have a similar piece which I had collected in Thailand about 15 years ago. So you may be right about its Thai origin. (I notice that your piece is missing a pointed nob at the top of the stupa.)

I cannot really tell the condition of your piece from the pictures and it is never easy to tell the age of bronze sculptures. When I acquired my piece, I was told (if I remember correctly) that it was close to 200 years old. I can not verify that, nor can I say that yours is also of that age.

I did not do any research on this sculpture when I first got it but I think I will try to check back with my Thai sources to get more information if I can.

I did not expect that there is someone who has almost the same Bronze (different mudra but the construction of the Bronze is identical).

I have already wondered why there is a hole on top of the Stupa. So it seems there is a piece missing? That's a pity but I had purchased it in that condition.

I have decided to upload another picture showing the bottoms of the base and the Buddha. Maybe it makes it easier to determine the age. 200 years would not be that bad though.
