Subject:Identify Signature Satsuma Charger
Posted By: James Sun, Jun 19, 2016 IP: 50.139.166.57

I am interested in any info to identify this artists signature. I have a early 20th c. satsuma charger of warriors. The piece is approx. 12.5". The piece has crazing all over. The piece came from a private collection that had other Japanese pieces from the same era. It has some discoloration to the pottery. Also any idea of worth would be helpful.

Hi James,

The marks spells 京都 西田 造 = Kyoto Nishida Zo = Made by Nishida in Kyoto. Probably Taisho Period (1912-1925).
I have no idea about the value, it's always hard to value something from pictures.
Regards,
Martin.
