Posted By: Mikeoz Tue, Jul 05, 2016 These look like contemporary works from the ShiWan pottery in FoShan, Guangdong province. |

Posted By: Bill H Tue, Jul 05, 2016 These are contemporary Chinese figures, which have been produced from the late 20th century onward and exported in great numbers to sellers of Asian decorative products in the West. The first seal-script mark, shown rotated 90-degrees to the right of its normal reading position, reads "Shiwan" (石戀), a kiln center well-known for its "Mud Men", located a short train ride North of Hong Kong in the Guangzhou suburbs. The other marks are too indistinct for me to fathom. |

Posted By: Bill H Thu, Jul 07, 2016 Oops. I need to correct the "wan" character shown above in "Shiwan", as I copied the wrong one from the online dictionary used. The correct form of the name as shown on the base of your figurine appears to be 石彎, using a version of "wan" that's interchangeable with the more commonly seen standard character with water radical, 石灣 (or 石湾 in simplified form). |
