Subject:Jade Dragon Bi Disc
Posted By: Jay Cutler MVP Wed, Jul 20, 2016 IP: 93.205.239.80

Hi,

some time ago I have acquired this Jade Bi Disc showing 2 Dragons. The diameter is about 2.6 inches (6.8 cm).
I was told that it had been with the family of the seller since 1900 or so. (seems it was used as a pendant) So it should be a least from the 19th century.
Is it possible to determine the age more precisely?

Thanks for all opinions.

Hi Jay,
Its probably an early 20th century decorative piece carved as a tribute to a much earlier time. The silkworms on the verso were not carved with great detail. It still may have some decorative value especially if nephrite. I might be able to help you sell it. I would have to send pics to my expert in Hong Kong and see what he says. You can email me pics at [email protected] if you would like.
Regards,
Lauren
