Subject:Chinese Glazed Stoneware Vase ID & Signature translate help
Posted By: Mitko Mon, Jul 25, 2016 IP: 85.227.143.180

Hello everybody!
I was wondering if someone can read and translate the marking on this porcelain vase. I know it has Robin's Egg Glaze but not sure of the age- all opinions welcome!
Thanks in advance!

The mark reads down and across from the top right in seal script as "China, Jinzhou" (Zhongguo Jinzhou - 中国锦州). Jinzhou, a major kiln center in ancient times, is a prefecture-level city in Liaoning Province. The mark appears to be from a stamp or decal, which along with the perfect glazing, suggests the vase is a modern product.

Here are a couple of links with information on Jinzhou and its porcelain:

Best regards,

Bill H.

Thank you Bill for your time and help!
I also believe it is a modern vase - it looks very very well made. Always wondered if modern Chinese porcelain such as this could have any value. We are used to relate Chinese to cheep nowadays.
Best regards!
