My mother has a box full of these and we do not have a clue what they are.

Possibly a place card holder? Is there room enough on the back to stick one?

The mark on the piece says "CPO". This was the Central Purchasing Office, which gotheborg.com mentions in what sounds like a supporting role for the US Military Exchange Store (a.k.a. "PX") System circa the 1950's.

Best regards,

Bill H.

You did not give dimensions, but I am thinking napkin rings.

Looks like it is marked CPO in a diamond. That was used for goods sold on US Military bases in Japan. CPO mark can date anywhere from right after WWII up to the 1970s from what I've heard. I can't tell you what it is though.
