Posted By: niels Mon, Aug 22, 2016 IP: 84.194.106.104

Hello everybody,

I bought yesterday two small vases but i paid them quite a bit of money. Could anyone tell me more about these two vases? What would be the age of these two vases?

They are 19cm heigh.

These are products of the late 19th-early 20th century (Guangxu to Republic period) with apocryphal four-character marks of "Made during the Kangxi Reign" (Kangxi Nian zhi - 康熙年製). They might have originally had covers, as seen in another somewhat more carefully painted pair pictured below. Generally speaking, four-character underglaze blue Kangxi marks like this are not of the period, especially when found in conjunction with dragon scales painted in such a "crosshatch & dot" style.

Best regards,

Bill H.
