Subject:Celadon Tripod Censer Sterling Foliage Lid Marked Please ID
Posted By: Jeanne Wed, Sep 14, 2016 IP: 104.36.30.242

Hi experts, this little celadon tripod censer is marked 3 times on the bottom, 2 are hard to make out but I'm hoping someone can ID or date them. The lid is at least sterling silver but tests for high silver content, it's not marked. It's 2 7/8" tall with no damage other than dark patina. Thank you in advance for the help.

Your censer is Japanese. The mark is not very well visible, but it resembles the mark of Suwa Sozan I. (1852-1922) who worked at Kyoto. You can search for his works and mark to compare yourself and see if he is a match. Is there a box coming with your censer?
