Subject:Help with mark and age on Japanese tea set
Posted By: Alicia Tue, Sep 20, 2016 IP: 172.101.210.167

Hello -- I am looking for some help to identify a mark on a Japanese tea set. I would also like to confirm the age of the set; I believe it is mid-20th century. Any information on manufacturer and timeframe is appreciated! Thank you.

I agree that your tea set looks to be fairly recent. The mark reads Matsukaze, literally "pine wind", and can be a place name or surname. There seems to be a good bit of info on the term in the tea and tea ware context online, so I'd suggest you search the name and sift through the results over a nice cup of tea.

Best regards,

Bill H.
