Hi,
I purchased this lovely piece at an estate sale and have a few questions:

1. Japanese or Chinese? I am not going to guess so as not to offend anyone.
2. I believe this is a reproduction. Would love to know about the type of paper the print is affixed to.
3. Who is the artist and what is the translation?
4. Could this have been a woodblock?

Hi Pat, You are correct, this is a reproduction of a painting by the female Chinese painter Chen Shu that is dated in the inscription to 1735. The original is in the collection of the National Palace Museum, Taiwan, which most likely sold your nice picture in its museum shop. Other pictures attributed to her (and a bio in Chinese) are here:
