Subject:Rokuro (Imamura): name or not ?
Posted By: Martin Michels Fri, Nov 04, 2016 IP: 84.26.216.123

Hi,

On the internet I found a potter's mark (see picture) which was translated as:
Painted by Imamura Rokuro - Made in Mikawachi - Dai Nippon.

However, I found out that Rokuro is the japanese name for the traditional free-hand wheel.

So the intriguing question is:
is Rokuro a part of the maker's name or must it be translated by something like:
Made on the potter's wheel and painted by Imamura?

And since this forum is also a discussion forum: Anyone any idea ?
Regards,
Martin.
