Subject:help with caligraphy and artist seal
Posted By: Frank LoPresti Sat, Dec 17, 2016 IP: 67.232.41.147

I've had this set of 4 scrolls for about 30 years and have always wondered about the message and author. The seal looks like a one-eyed, robot-man in a rectangle, unique and simple enough that I thought I would recognize it if I saw it online. Days of searching and I can only hope for help from the experts of this forum.

I can't see the seal clearly, but the artist gives his name in the last column, 張國光 Zhang Guoguang/Chang Kuo-kuang, and dates it to the sixth month of the xinchou year, or 1961 based on the style. The first three lines are a poem the artist has created that relates to the scene depicted. (a former head of Liaoning Province and a contemporary calligrapher also have this name, but neither of them are your painter.)
