Subject:Help Identify Signature Japanese Silk Painting
Posted By: Marvin Sat, Jan 14, 2017 IP: 2601:02c6:4000:2ff0:

I have 2 old paintings on silk. They are both by the same artist. They are both the same style but different images with the same or similar ladies depicted. The signature is located on each painting which is on silk and framed in gold leaf bamboo wood frame. Please tell me the artist name, The title or subject matter and when was it made? I greatly appreciate all of the help!

Hi,

Thank you for your response! I searched for Ishitoshi but I cannot find any information on that artist. I now know that Sekinen is the prepared silk that the painting is on. Do you know the artist Ishitoshi? Thank you!

石年 is read "Sekinen" (chinese-japanese reading, most often used for artists)

Ishitoshi is an alternative reading of these characters (pure japanese reading)

I fund nothing about this artist except this : http://www.enchanteart.com/newauction/?action=auto&aucid=201303-028
