Subject:Signature Chinese Vase
Posted By: Gerda Sat, Jan 14, 2017 IP: 2003:00d3:b3cd:96d4:

Hello, I inherit two nice Chinese Vases but I don't know anything about their age, signatures and artist. Can somebody help me? Many thanks in advance. Gerda

The top image shows a mark, which reads down and across from the top right as "Made during the Qianlong Reign" (Qian-long Nian Zhi). This mark is apocryphal and dates to about the mid-20th century or slightly later.

When flipped 180 degrees, enlarged and enhanced, the mark within the hexagonal base appears to read "Made in China" (Zhong-guo zhi zao). It also dates to around the mid-20th century.

This is all that can be determined about your vases without further information or photos. Accurate evaluations require all-over views of the object, including top & bottom,. You can post three images initially to your query, and when the posting appears, you can add three more to the same query each time as required by using the "post a reply" function. Photos must be large and well focused enough to reveal details of marks and decoration without exceeding 100 kb in pixel size per image.

Best Regards,

Bill H.
