Subject:Okinawa Jade Dogs
Posted By: Rebecca Merrington Sun, Jan 15, 2017 IP: 122.59.57.81 I was wondering if anyone knew about this type of Jade dog. I bought it at a temple antique market in Tokyo, but know nothing about it. |

Posted By: Ernest Wilhelm Wed, Jan 18, 2017 You noticed that it was easy to scratch . . it is a soft stone, no relationship to Jade |

Posted By: Corey Tue, Jan 17, 2017 Or possibly a ceramic material of some sort? Object looks better if rotated 180 degrees clockwise. Likely a Japanese netsuke. There should be a perforation for the cord and the carving should be small in size. |

Posted By: Ernest Wilhelm Wed, Jan 18, 2017 I do not think that it was made in Japan, but most likely in China. |

Posted By: Rebecca Merrington Thu, Jan 19, 2017 I think it is too large to be a netsuke. Thank you for your response. I assume Japanese as I bought it in Japan. No other reason. It certainly perplexing. |
