Subject:Turned wooden bowl - Help

Hello - Had this bowl for over 50 years. Always wondered how old it was, and where made - I assume Japan. It's cracked (since bought in a junk shop) and worn, but once had a beautiful frog on lotus leaf design inside, painted in red and gold on clear lacquer - now only just visible. I'd love to know more about it, and what the characters say on the base. It is turned from cherry wood, with the bark left on. Any infoormation would be appreciated. Thank you. Ben
