Subject:Need Help with this Chinese vase !
Posted By: Mitko Sun, Feb 05, 2017 IP: 213.114.175.209

Hello!
Could you please help me with the reading and translation of the markings on this vase.
It has 4 marks to the side and one at the bottom.

Thanks in advance!
Best regards!

the seals are all imitations of seals that are associated with imperial Qing artwork. One is labeled Guyuexuan 古月轩, a mark that appeared on top quality enameled porcelains, another includes Lang Shining 郎世宁, the Chinese name of Jesuit priest and painter Giuseppe Castiglione, who worked at court for the Qianlong emperor, the subject of the third seal 乾隆 (http://diglweb.zjlib.cn:8081/zjtsg/zgjcj/cypicxl.jsp?searchword=%C3%FB%C8%CB%B1%E0%BA%C5%3D1049&channelid=91700&record=16).

Thank you for the detailed information rat- I really appreciate this!
Do you have an idea of approximately when it was made? The vase is all hand painted in good detail.
Here some pictures of the paintings.
Regards!

Your vase, which is missing its lid, dates to circa 1940, when these black border designs were first used.
