Posted By: Bob Sat, Aug 26, 2017 IP: 2601:285:0:c5ac:648c Can anyone tell me the language on the back of these bronze Buddhas? I am hoping for a translation if I can figure out origin |

Posted By: Bill H. Sun, Aug 27, 2017 The alphabet is common to the Thai, Lao and Shan people of Southeast Asia, all of whom share Tai ethnicity as far as I know. Your bronze Sakyamuni "Earth-touching" Buddha images ,resemble those I've seen that were cast by Shan artisans in Burma. Here's one I Picked up in Rangoon about 35 years ago. It's supposed to date to the 19th century or earlier. |

Posted By: Bill H Mon, Aug 28, 2017 Just occurred to me that if a Shan artisan made these, the writing could be Burmese. Perhaps someone who actually reads the script can verify. |
