Subject:Ge-type cong vase - when do you think it was made?

Ge-type cong vase - when do you think it was made? It’s 9” tall

As you can see it has lots of glaze blistering from wear, multiple layer crackle glaze, formed in porcelain in two halves with an added one piece mouth and very thinly potted, typical ink blackened unglazed foot and shaped to be put in a possible stand, heavy inside patina.

Dear MJ

Not sure what you mean by "typically ink blackened," I have never heard of such a practice. To me it just looks like artificial dirt, a sign of modern manufacture. The suspicious looking extra dirt on the inside just confirms this view.

Kind regards

Dear MJ

My apologies, I just now read a passage in Allen's second book (p206) describing a practice of adding black lacquer to the bottom of certain Guangxu-Xuantong era vases.

Clearly I should defer to others to comment on this piece.

Kind regards
J.Lim
