Posted By: Stan Mon, Dec 18, 2017 The first two look like they are hardstone bottles. The carving is pretty pedestrian. The last (18 Louhans) one looks a little better. Is it carved wood? |

Posted By: Erin N. Tue, Dec 19, 2017 Wow, thank you very much Stan. The last one is carved wood indeed. They were collected over a period of 50-60 years from about the 1930s possibly. I don't have a developed eye as you do, but I think these other two are stone as well? |

Posted By: Stan Wed, Dec 20, 2017 Full disclosure, I am not an expert. More of an interested amateur. We have about 40 snuff bottles. Some are good. Some are crap. We bought a collection of 30+ at auction and the lot varied from valuable to junk. |

Posted By: Erin N. Fri, Dec 22, 2017 Thanks so much. "Interested amateur" or no, I'm learning a lot about snuff bottles and it's been both really helpful and interesting. Thanks a bunch! This collection has over 30 bottles which she collected since about the 1930s, and seems to be a mix of both fun more common looking ones and nice ones. Some (not posted) may be ivory as well. A lot to learn... |
