Subject:Identify an ivory medaillon picturing 3 persons
Posted By: manuD Wed, Feb 28, 2018 IP: 37.168.30.38

I dont know where this medaillon comes from. It is 17cm in diameter, and maybe ivory, but I dont know how to check that. There is no inscription on the front and I would rather not remove it from the frame to look for possible inscriptions on the back.

The man on the right seems asian, but his headwear does not seem to be chjnese or japanese. The woman on the right seems to be playing a string instrument, a simple zither? Her hair is tied into a bun : would that be done in China? Both she and the man wear a wide robe with a wide collar and decoration lower down, which might be chinese ?
